[INTERVIEW] What is NCT 127's Japan Debut? (3) "This Is Awesome" & The Nine Members Personality Commentary (PT. 1) | JPN→ENG TRANS {モデルプレス (Modelpress)}


NCT 127, SM Entertainment's boy group just announce their spring Japan debut. Live events like SMTOWN LIVE and a-nation in Japan, many fans already have been to and it's surely a long-awaited debut.

Along with their debut announcement, they also released their "Limitless" Japanese version MV with extreme momentum which showed the height of the attention they have. Then, they came to Modelpress. Furthermore, this time Modelpress, the "first" to receive Japanese WEB media coverage, will give you a valuable interview.

What is NCT 127?



The group name "NCT" is the initials of "Neo Culture Technology". "Open and expanding" is the group's theme. The group is composed of members with various nationalities such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, American, Canadian, Thai, etc., and takes on the style of selecting active members for each concept.



NCT 127 which is located in Seoul (South Korea) takes the concept of globally expanding with its multinational members. Now, I am working with 9 people; Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, and Haechan.

Members with different nationalities from different countries such as Japanese member, Yuta, American member Johnny, Chinese member Winwin, and Canadian member Mark are gathered together.


NCT 127's This Is Awesome! (#1)  The Members Are Multinational

So I asked the members to introduce themselves and to include three points of their own for This Is Awesome! 




TAEYONG: The first point is that the members are multinational. We are and learning and deepening our understanding of nature, language, and culture. 

YUTA: At the time of the recording, for example, of the Japanese version of "Limitless", I checked their Japanese pronunciation. Koreans are not good at pronouncing tsu (つ) and chu (ちゅ). We can teach each other. In the same way, if there's something in Chinese, Winwin can take the role of teaching us; when it's English, it's better for Johnny or Mark to complement where we're lacking.


NCT 127's This Is Awesome!  (#2)  The Stages Are Created From a Fun Practice




TAEIL: The second is the stages. We always practice for a long time. All the arrangements are set together so I think it will be "awesome" on stage. To be honest I think that practicing is hard. 😂😂😂
(T/N: From here on, putting awesome, amazing, great, etc. in quotations is to show that they're referring to the title of the segment. Kind of like a pun.)

TAEYONG: Of course, practice is tough, but we always do it in a fun atmosphere, so the outcome is the same on stage, and if we practice it, we can do it on stage as well.

MARK: Our performance varies depending on the music of that time.I always try to express my feelings for each song, so I always think that the expression and movements are different from the same atmosphere, so I think the viewer will enjoy it.


NCT 127's This Is Awesome!    (#3) Each of The Nine Members Have a Different Charm

TAEIL: The third one, I think, is that everyone is "amazing"! 😂😂😂 That's because each of us all have a different charm. So I think, by gathering all nine of us, that NCT is an "awesome" team! 

YUTA: It's not easy for all nine people to understand each other because of cultural differences, and the environment in which we were raised in is different but when we understand each other, we will have a strong bond. I think it's something like that.

There Are Nine Members With Different Personalities. What Kind of People Are They?


Since the members share dorms, they know each other well; today, they introduced themselves by order of their seating.


JAEHYUN

Birth Date: February 14, 1997 
Origin: South Korea 
Special Skill(s): Rap, piano

HAECHAN: As you can see, Jaehyun's skin is very white and pretty, but just as his skin, his heart is white a pure. Jaehyun and I are both roommates. When Jaehyun had to go to sleep, when I was doing something, he slept and left the lights on. He's always concerned about me.

JAEHYUN: 😄😄😄 But there are a lot of things that Haechan is concerned about for me too.


MARK
Birth Date: August 02, 1999 
 Origin: Canada 
 Special Skill: Rap, dance, guitar

JAEHYUN:  Mark has really grown up and I can expect that he'll grow much more.
When I say that Mark has especially grown since we met, there's a lot of things... charming, right? 😂😂😂  


YUTA

MARK: I've always thought of it, but Yuta is definitely necessary to NCT. He's a open, very fun, cool, and warm. Everyone is very close to each other. Especially when I was in Japan, I became more aware of the people around me and the people around us than ever before. If there is something you want to learn, you can learn a lot in some places.

YUTA: I treated you to delicious things. 😂😂😂


DOYOUNG
Birth Date: February 01, 1996 
 Origin: South Korea 
Special Skill: Flute, piano

YUTA: As soon as you listen to our songs, you'll hear his beautiful voice. Besides our leader, Taeyong, Doyoung also supports us with his mother-like presence. To sum it all up, we have a leader but Doyoung compensates. Taeyong is like a father and Doyoung, a mother and we are the kids. Since were always making to people angry, we have to be careful! 😂😂😂


TAEYONG

DOYOUNG: Taeyong has a strong sense of responsibility as a leader and I am very thankful for him always making an effort to lead us members. Also,  as a member, I think that there is a point to learn about his performance onstage so I often check it on the monitor.


JOHNNY


Birth Date: February 09, 1995 
 Origin:  USA 
Special Skill: DJ, piano

TAEYONG: As you can see, Johnny's style is like a model's, right? Like Doyoung, Johnny cared about me very much. Sometimes, when i get stressed, he helps me to open up. He plays a lot of  roles in the group. He's very much like a friend.


TAEIL


Birth Date: June 14, 1994 
Origin: South Korea 
Special Skill: Guitar

JOHNNY: Taeil has a really beautiful voice, doesn't he? So I feel proud when I see him singing on stage.  I think everyone feels the same but when I'm with Taeil, I'm happy and I have fun.  He has a friendly image. Either way, he is the oldest member of the group so he does give off that image. He's a very nice person.

WINWIN


Birth Date: October 28, 1997 
 Origin: China 
 Special Skill: Chinese traditional dance

TAEIL: First , Winwin is very handsome and the he has a pure personality. We have fun together. Then he also the type to be mischievous to; even if we do so, Winwin will take it. 😂😂😂 So Winwin's  presence makes everyone feel bright and cheerful.


HAECHAN

Birth Date: June 6, 2000 
Origin: South Korea 
Special Skill: Piano


WINWIN: Haechan is a great person. He is thoughtful and thinks about a lot of things. He's the group's youngest member but is kind of like the older members too. If there's something he wants to do he'll work hard to go toward that direction. For example, if he wants to be good at dancing and singing, he'll work hard to get that result.

Using the strengths of a multinational group, Yuta played an active part in both roles being interviewed and as an interpreter! Even in the interview, various members answered questions and those questions were answered.
