DREAMY VIBES IN KWANGYA | NCT 2021 YearDream : Stage 4 - Resonance [THEORY]

I'm back with another theory post for the final YearDream episode! This was really beautiful and vibey~ Let's into it!

First of all, I have to ask...why isn't there a YearDream: Stage 5? Maybe the other promo content and MVs are in stage 5 (reality). Hmm...
Now, I gotta talk about the visuals. So pretty and magical! The blue and purple tones of the whole video really make me think back to the emphasis on color theory in the stage 2 episode. When you go back to NCTmentary and look at the stage colors, stage 2 (dream) is blue and stage 4 (dream in a dream) is purple.
The fact that it's all blue and purple and occurring in stage 4, dream in a dream, really shows that they're deep into the dream state. The smooth vibe music in the background adds to the dreamy ambiance even more.
Unlike the other YearDream episodes, the members actually talk to each other and are aware of their dreams. I think this is a special set of members (especially Sungchan and Shotaro) because of this.
Look how pretty these are!!
While the visuals are nice, the most interesting parts of this episode are their conversations.
It was like they were all looking forward to meeting up either each other.
Taeyong was asking why Mark was so late as if he was expecting him. Jeno had a feeling that he was going to meet Jungwoo and Jungwoo said that almost all the members he expected to be there were present and that he could feel the frequency better. You can tell that means that they resonate the most when together.
Then Jaehyun says something that makes me so confused. He says that it's been a while since they gathered at Kwangya of unconsciousness. Does that mean that their dreams take place in Kwangya? So is Kwangya a place in reality or in dreams? Is Kwangya a real place but they travel there in their dreams? So many questions. That's an interesting development.
I love how, in the next scenes, Jaehyun and Taeyong ask Sungchan and Shotaro how they feel about being there for the first time. 🥺 Shotaro said that it was so amazing and fun and that he can't believe it's real. And Sungchan said that it's so amazing that he doesn't want to wake up from it. I hope some version of this happens again with future members, like an introduction to dreaming in Kwangya.
For a moment, after they welcomed Shotaro and Sungchan into dream Kwangya, you could think that it's over but the infamous resonance water drop plays and you see all the members from different YearDream episodes appear. The order of the last few members is so symbolic. Shotaro, Sungchan, and Taeyong appear last. Shotaro and Sungchan are on the sides and Tayong is in the center. Then, Taeyong appears and fades out last.
It really symbolizes Sungchan and Shotaro being the newest editions to NCT but also that Taeyong is really at the center of all the events. It makes me think of a very interesting, potentially far-fetched theory...😏
MY THEORY
What if this eye that Yuta saw in NCTmentary EP. 4 wasn't always there.
The words "center" and "eye" are sometimes synonymous and the eye in NCT's lore functions as a central point. Taeyong is the center of everything in NCT. What if this eye is actually Taeyong's eye watching them? Taeyong, so far, is the only one who's aware of all of them when they enter dreams. This was kind of implied in YearDream: Stage 0 when he first sensed Shotaro and Sungchan entering the building, which is where and when they unlock their 7th Sense.
I need to rewatch the NCTmentary episodes to see if it all adds up but I feel like this theory might hold some weight.

MY COMMENTS: @basontheblock has become my new favorite account for theories! I'll definitely be sharing their theories in the future. This thread basically sums up everything we learned through YearDream. The explanation for the purple color for phase/stage 4, dream in a dream makes sense since this is the stage that blurs the boundaries between dream and reality.
I also agree that there's no need for a stage 5 episode, especially since it's happening like a cycle; the starting point and ending point are the same. Although I feel it would be interesting to see because reality before falling asleep and dreaming is a bit different than waking up from a dream and being back in reality.
